The Breif
Seiko is seeking a short 3D animated product spot that highlights the precision and craftsmanship of a Seiko timepiece. The animation should sync with a 10–15 second audio clip, using refined F-Curve animation, cinematic lighting, and smooth camera movement to reveal the dial, hands, and internal mechanics, creating strong audio-visual harmony that reflects Seiko’s legacy of precision and innovation.
The Idea
Through bold black-and-white forms and smooth, controlled animation, the piece communicates the brand’s core idea: timekeeping as engineered precision and kinetic beauty.
Production
I was drawn to Seiko's "Sport SRPG27" watch model for its sophisticated figure and clean metallic finish. I then scoured the internet for any images of the model, even taking screenshots of watch manuals for reference, going into modeling in Cinema 4D.
Development
I was inspired by brutalist sharp contrast cinematography and wanted to create a black and white scene that conveyed the seriousness of the Seiko brand and gave positive negative figure to their watch.
Experimentation
I wanted to create a "Vibe" with this piece that felt subliminal and sophisticated while retaining that grit that the metallic textures of the SRPG27 represent. I went to Midjourny to create images featuring this sophisticated watch in energetic scenes of physical momentum to increase tension and build up the reveal.
I also played with mirroring and glitch effects throughout the piece to create a sense of distortion one might feel when moving "faster than time."
